Almost 40 Brinnon Parks and Recreation District community volunteers processed 1251 pounds of Shrimp into 846 packages ready for sale Memorial Day Weekend. Sales started off brisk Saturday morning with a gentleman from Port Hadlock purchasing 23 packages of shrimp at the Quilcene/Brinnon Garden Club. The sale at the Brinnon Community Center continued strong throughout the day with approximately 70% of all shrimp packages being sold on Saturday. Most of these shoppers were Shrimpfest regulars disappointed the event was cancelled but happy Shrimp was available for sale. Sunday and Monday sales were slower. Monday started with over a 100 shrimp packages to sell. A couple heading home to Oregon purchasing 20 packages which relieved some of the pressure. Most of Monday sales were from travelers driving through town. Although, helping the cause was a repeat costumer from Port Ludlow who purchased 8 packages on Sunday purchasing an additional 8 packages on Monday just after 3:00 we sold out. Yielding $4,639.06 to be divided evenly by both organizations. However, Emerald Towns Alliance (ETA) generously voted to donate their shrimp sales proceeds back to the Brinnon Parks and Recreation District. This donation will ensure the District makes its events/programs goal for the year and is very much appreciative of ETA support.
